ON TAPE & TYPOGRAPHY

In the spirit of keeping my artistic (and literary) options open, I conducted some experiments: I used semi-opaque tape to literally pull words off newsprint, after which I attached each piece to black card stock to form a haiku. I also added some elements using black pen, to keep the piece loosely connected to my blackout approach. Methinks I will call this style “Transplanted Haiku” or perhaps “Tape & Typography.”

AN ESPRESSO SHOT OF POETIC PROPORTIONS / The work above is an experiment in haiku and shall be investigated further. My only issue is that this style seems to work best with serious subjects so I’m concerned I’ll have trouble covering more lighthearted topics with this approach. I suppose only time will tell!
