W ords are a powerful tool for sharing an important event or useful resource with an audience. And if a haiku is included, the overall impact can be truly memorable…especially when you consider the personal nature of a blog and its community.
Love is Love: A Destiny Honored Through Photography
Love is colorless and blind. It comes without tags and titles, and in all its forms exists without a template. In short, love is beautiful. So, when a wonderful couple stands in front of our lens, exuding a happiness that only soulmates understand, we feel grateful to be observing that moment. And to also be the artists selected to capture the moment through photography—let’s just say there are no words to describe that feeling. We recently had the honor of shooting photography for a lovely couple, two very special ladies who followed two separate paths that eventually came together to make one road forward. Today, we’d like to share some of that experience with you…
Let’s begin at the beginning
Every couple has a story about how they met. Katie and Eevee’s tale began with a connection just out of arm’s reach and eventually became a conversation that never ended. But we’ll let them tell the story.
“We met in college. During my freshman year, a friend dragged me to a swing dance club and while there, I was completely taken by one of the lead dancers, someone who I briefly danced with. Since I was dating someone at the time, nothing developed from the encounter. Two years later, we had our first full conversation at a Live Action Role-Playing (LARP) event, which is akin to a masquerade, a game of Clue, and an interactive play all rolled into one. Naturally, I didn’t recognize her because she was wearing a face mask! Fortunately, and entirely by accident, I left my shoes at her house. When she reached out to me to arrange the return of my shoes, we began chatting and just never stopped.”

love is always love
Today, Katie is a museum aide pursuing a career in archaeology/conservation and Eevee is an environmental scientist. Although their lives are continuing to grow and evolve, one thing remains the same: their love for and commitment to each other. It’s an amazing story that deserved to be told through photography so we employed our time-tested approach to capture their magic through images.
Important moments deserve preparation
Our work is grounded in preparation and Katie and Eevee’s engagement photo shoot was no different. We conducted careful research that helped develop a visual storyboard so we could easily share our thought process with Katie and Eevee during the initial meeting. Their feedback helped us refine our visual and conceptual approach to ensure it reflected their personalities and general tastes. Once we scouted potential locations and set a date and time for the photo shoot, the rest as they say became history. Preparation is priceless to us: it gives us a means through which to shape and polish our vision so that it reflects the hopes and dreams of our clients.
